Investigadoras do grupo de Genética do Cancro do Ipatimup (Joana Paredes e Ana Sofia Ribeiro) focam o seu estudo na Caderina-P, uma molécula de adesão celular que promove o crescimento tumoral e a invasão de células neoplásicas, sendo um marcador de mau prognóstico no cancro da mama.

Abstract:

Proteína AXL como moduladora da resposta ao sunitinib em linhas celulares de glioblastoma

A descoberta de alterações na família de receptores tirosina quinase (RTK- receptor tyrosine quinases) e nas suas vias de sinalização intracelular têm possibilitado o desenvolvimento de fármacos específicos para estas moléculas, que conduziram a tratamentos oncológicos inovadores, personalizados e mais eficazes. No entanto, a resistência a estas terapias surge com o tempo, levando à recidiva e evolução tumoral. Esta abordagem de medicina personalizada tem sido aplicada no tratamento de glioblastoma, o mais frequente e maligno tumor cerebral.

TRANSCAN-2: Joint Transnational Call for Proposals

TRANSCAN-2 is launching its first Joint Transnational Call for research proposals (JTC 2014) to which the European Commission (EC) will contribute. TRANSCAN-2 has the goal of coordinating national and regional funding programmes for research in the area of translational cancer research.

The topic of the call will be «Translational research on human tumour heterogeneity to overcome recurrence and resistance to therapy» and projects must cover at least one of the areas specified below, which are equal in relevance for this call:
