Review paper on Helicobacter pylori on front page of FEBS Letters

The article provides an overview on how Helicobacter pylori interacts with the epithelial cells of the gastric mucosa via modification of the adherens junctions. These alterations may be beneficial for the establishment of H. pylori colonization and persistence in the stomach, and simultaneously activate signaling pathways in the host cells that can induce disease. H. pylori is considered the most prevalent chronic infection in the world and is a risk factor for peptic ulcer disease and gastric carcinoma. The interaction between H.

Glycoproteomic Analysis of Serum from Patients with Gastric Precancerous Lesions

The study identified proteins with abnormal glycosylation in the serum of patients with pre-neoplastic gastric lesions, indicating the possibility of non-invasive diagnosis in this context. The serum glycoproteome approach identified, among others, plasminogen as a carrier of aberrant glycoforms.

ESMO distinguishes Diana Martins (IPATIMUP) with the "Best Poster Award" in the category of Breast Cancer

Diana Martins was awarded with the «Best Poster Award» at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2012 Congress, which occurred in Viena, Austria. The results within the poster revealed that there is a significant higher frequency of p-mTOR in the very aggressive basal-like tumors, compared with the other breast cancer subtypes.

New biomarker of survival in patients with stomach cancer
